About
Rocky Hill Aussies
Our Program
Raising Quality Dogs Since 2017
We strive to produce dogs that have the intelligence, herding instinct, confirmation, and athletic ability of a standard Australian Shepherd in the small package of a miniature or toy. Our program's motto is to produce quality not quantity dogs.
All of our breeding animals are health tested, vaccinated, and socialized around children, cats, chickens and our neighbors cows. We register our dogs with American Stock Dog Registry (ASDR), and some litters are even dual registered with ASDR and American Kennel Club (AKC).
Our Story
Our Start to the Breed
Hello, my name is Katrina Elliott and I am the breeder behind Rocky Hill Aussies. We are located in Rural Northeast Oklahoma on a 5 acre fenced farm.
When I was 18 years old my parents had purchased our first Miniature Australian Shepherd, "Rowdy Cowboy Britches" (pictured far left). Rowdy and I had the opportunity to participate in the Cherokee County Fair together in the dog project, so we both set our minds to our goals. Goal #1 was to get a Grand Champion Ribbon in one event our first year. Goal #2 was to compete in all off lead events our 2nd year (my last year before aging out of 4-H). I knew when Rowdy and I started working together nightly that our goals were within reach. That "Aussie" and I were two peas in a pod. He worked his heart out for me and we accomplished both of those goals while even getting grand champion in off lead obedience. I knew from that moment on that I would forever own an "Aussie"
**Fast Forward 7 years**
When my husband and I were engaged in April of 2017 we got OUR first Miniature Australian Shepherd, Jessie Lynn (pictured left). You see, this was an opportunity for my husband to fall in love with the breed just like I had with Rowdy.
**Fast Forward 1.5 years**
We had our first beautiful litter of Miniature Australian Shepherd Puppies and were hooked on sharing the breed with others who could appreciate it.
In 2020 we started doing lots of research about the breed and genetic testing our dogs to select the correct stud with each female.
In March of 2021 we got invited to our first ASDR Show where we learned so much. We have since made changes to our program based off our research about genetic testing we have done, the quality of dogs we were seeing at the other 4 ASDR shows we went to after the March show.
